Cute Card Thursday Challenge

Challenge 88 - Snips, Snails and puppy dog tails. OR in other words ... a project or card for a younger boy. Once again I apologise for the picture, I've taken so many and boy, I still cannot get it right - this was the best one and it was taken in the laundry room!!

Doesn't every boy like to race cars especially when they are dad's big TV! lol. I inked up a Lili of the valley stamp, coloured it in bright colours (don't you always dress little ones in brighter colours then you do yourself?) You may just be able to see through the mist of the picture the shine on the TV set - I used a enamel glossy highlight for this.

Items used:-

Sizzlits for the sentiment and robot / Promarkers / papers - stash / stamp - Lili of the Valley.

Well I hope you have all had a really good weekend, despite it getting colder!

Hugs,

Sarah x

Passion for Promarkers Challenge

This week's challenge has been chosen by Maria. The theme this week is "vintage" - you can use any colour promarkers.

I've gone vintage by using my vintage lady and car as well as the colours!! - The lady has been masked over the car. It is also the first time I've used lace on a card - vintage chic! Quite a simple design but I'm pleased with it. The flowers have been dabbed with tea dye distressed ink to age them a little.

Items used:
card - Papermill / papers - American travel / stamps - Clarity (lady), unknown car, woodware sentiment / flowers - stash / nesties - circle scallop.

Gosh so many people have their Christmas trees up already - my daughter wants to visit each house that has one!!!! No doubt will have to put mine up fairly soon.

Take care,
Sarah x

A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

The Challenge this week was picked by Camilla and she challenged us to a colour combo, with a twist You have to have brown as you basic colour, then you can choose either pink or blue to go with the brown.
Brown as your base colour - my card -and bear and a pink flower, envelope and butterflies. I have also tried shaddowing on this card in a hint of brown - does it look ok or like a smudge? You have to try all these techniques out don't you. The image has been layered up on brown pearlised paper and pink textured paper.

Items used:-

Card & Paper - Papermill / Stamp - Lili of the Valley / punch - Martha Stewart doily / Ribbon & flower & bear charm - stash

(the photo looks like its a little cockeyed and bent - It was the way I cropped it sorry, but couldn't get a better image).

Magnolia-licious Highlights

You still have a few days to enter the Magalicious Highlights monthly competition. Just click here for details and to be awe inspired with the cards - follow the sketch. One lucky participant will win a FREE STAMP from Magnolia-licious courtesy of Diana Crick.

I'm sorry, my photo just doesn't do the image justice. The colours are a little more vibrant in 'real life' - real plumby colours - does anyone have a magic camera that takes brilliant pictures all the time? no matter what I do it's either too bright or too dim grhhhh!

I rotated the sketch as I this fitted better with my stamp.

My little crafting area is in my very small conservatory and in this weather isn't ideal - my fingers are getting rather stiff with the cold! - hope you are all keeping warm.

Items used;-

Stamp - Tilda / Card - pearlised from the Paper Mill / Paper - Papercella / Flowers - basic daisy punches medium and small / brads etc from stash.

thanks for looking.

Just Magnolia Challenge.

Week 32 is Masking - using at least 1 magnolia image - go to the blog here for all details and of course all the fab cards.

I just admire all the magnolia cards everyone else does and always think how I would love to make cards like that. Well practice makes perfect and of course I like to keep practicing. So here is my attempt at masking. I have used distressing inks, promarkers and brush markers to colour in the image - hopefully Santa Clause will bring me a copic or two!!!

I have put some punched leaves falling out from the trees to give a more wintery image, but don't think I've quite got the hang of grass or grounding my image - any hints would be gratefully received.

I didn't want to use any papers on this card so have used some sizzlit flourishes that have been spritzed with cosmic shimmer to give a "boarder".

Also need to brush up on how to get the perfect picture!!! Anyhow, thanks for looking.

I don't know how I've managed to blog so many cards this week, perhaps it is that the kids are entertaining themselves. Here's my daughter crafting and pushing me out of my craftspace!!

She's only 2 3/4 but loves crafting - and pinching all my bits!!

Lili of the Valley Challenge

With the weather being like it is - wet, windy and cold what could be better for us crafters than to stay in and pootle about making cards?

Lili of the Valley Challenge 41 is to use a sketch - click here for details. You can use any stamp not just a Lili of the valley stamp!

I decided to be brave and try putting more coloured papers together - I think it has kinda worked. I have had more time to play today trying this and that out and seeing if it goes together. I suppose its like anything, one person may love it and another may not!!!
A big thanks to Liz who sent me the image.
Hope you are all keeping warm and cozy and thanks for looking.
Hugs Sarah x
(The only thing that I have used on this card that is different from my others is the Polar White Flower Soft)

Three Clovers Thursday Challenge

The Three Clovers Challenge is to make a Christmas Card with NO red or green. Needless to say I went all girly girly in purple and a little pink.
I have a Christmas Branch stamp which I have tried to make into a tree, placed in in a flourished square. Obviously all you talented crafters will know what i've used!
Thanks for looking.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge.

Oh what a fab challenge this is, they have more candy on offer by blog hopping, collecting clues and entering a little competition. The theme is Winter Wonderland - hop over to this link here for all the details.

OMG - I haven't any Christmas Penny Black stamps - boo hoo - gonna have to resolve that..... in the meantime I've adapted a stamp which I hope you will like.

The stickles snow ground hasn't shown up well on this photo but I promise it looks really crisp and crunch in "real life"!
Anyway hope you like it.
Items used
Snowflake cuttlebug embossing folder / holly punch / Papermania papers / card - Papermill in Kendal / colours - Promarkers / ribbon - hehe (from my dressing gown but don't tell anyone) / stickles and pearly doodles.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge

This weeks challenge wants to see your cards / projects that are for teenagers. For great inspiration visit the blog here for details.

I think this little chappy is quite a cute sk8er boy. It is the first time I've done some paper piecing (his jumper) - oooh I quite like the effect rather than just shading with colours. I quite like how this card has come together, not using a sketch that is.
The boy has been popped up on foam pads to give a little more definition. Oh the charm was a bargin, 6 for a £1.

Items used:-
Stamp - DimensionfourthLtd / Papers - papermania / letters - Sizzlits / colours - Promarkers / star - xcut punch / charm - The Works.

Well thanks for stopping by,

Hugs

The Sugar Bowl Challenge.

This weeks Challenge is to follow the sketch over on The Sugar Bowl blog click here for details -to add also an option any kind of zig zag - stitching, cutting, boarders.

I didn't use any papers on this card, as I only have one variety and wanted a change! I've highlighted the pearlised card with red card and stamped the sentiment using versamark and a silver glitter embossing powder.
The pointsettias were hand made using a rose leaf punch and layered up with gold glitter in the centre to give a sparkle. The best find in my crafting box was the pinking shears that were passed down in my family from a neighbour - they are over 80 years old and still working well, once used by a prized dressmaker and now I'm using them in my crafting!

Items used:-

Sugar Nellie stamp stamped with mimento ink - papermill card & paper - rose leaf punch from woodware - Promarkers - other items from my stash.

Passion for Promarkers Challenge

This week’s challenge is a fantastic sketch to work by Ida. You can use any colours of promarkers but you must follow the sketch! Click here for details.

I thought I'd dust off an old Penny Black Stamp which I found in my drawer. It hadn't been inked for a while - isn't it nice when you find an old stamp and think what a lovely image.

I've done a little decoupage on this, the birthday cake has been popped up by Pinflare gel and the wrapper has a translucent glitter pen over it and the icing has been covered in tiny balls. Looks good enough to eat ! see below .....

Instead of a stamped sentiment I decided to use my sizzlits and put faux stitching around - (I'm not brave enough to get my sewing machine out for card making yet).

Items used:-
Most of the items have been said above, I think the only thing missing is Friskars scissors to cut the fancy circle that was layers onto Papermania paper.

hugs,

Whiff of Joy challenge.

Hope you all have had a good relaxing weekend.

Now onto the challenge. Challenge #55 is to use Orange, Brown and Ivory. If you click here, you'll find details of the challenge and other DT designs.

As I'm still in my brown colour mood, this was a fun card to make. I've also been trying to find glimmer mist, none of my local craft stores have it so I tried the cosmic shimmer spritz which I think has just done the job as well (yeyh). Here's a close up.

Items used:-
Whiff of Joy stamp, Prima flowers, Cosmic Shimmer spritz, Martha Stewart leaf punch, papermainia papers, freebie sentiment stamp.
Hope you like it

Sugar Bowl Challenge

For this weeks challenge it was to create a Thanksgiving card or something to show gratitude. In England we don't tend to celebrate Thanksgiving, so I thought a thank you card would be the way to go. I also think we should send more thank yous around and not take so much for granted!

The sketch to use was Judy's Sketch, click here for details and lots of fab cards to see.

Orange, yellow and brown was my colour combo on the sketch.

Items used.

Stamp - Sugar Nellie.
Colours - Promarkers.
Papers - Papermania.
Card - papermill (including mirri board)
Gems & Embelli - stash.

Well thank you for looking and hope you have a good day.

Lili of the Valley Challenge

Good afternoon and how are we all today? After reading a few other blogs, I feel quite jealous that I didn't manage to get to the NEC - everyone sounds to have had quite a lot of fun and got quite a lot of goodies! Maybe next year.

Anyway, my card today is for the Lili of the Valley Challenge, 3 papers, 2 stamps and 1 embelishment. Click here for details and inspiration.

I never feel I quite get the combination of papers right. I always see other bloggers using quite contrasting papers and it looks so wonderful together, but when I do it, it looks like a horrendous mess!

So I thought I'd play safe with these blues - don't think even I could go wrong with that!!! lol

Items used.
  • Stamp - Sugar Nellie and butterfly kisses.
  • Colours - Promarkers and distressing inks.
  • Punch - Xcut christmas snowflake.
  • Papers - Papermania.
  • Embelli - stash.
  • Glitter - Stickles on wings, shoes and wand - sorry didn't show up on the piccy.

(gosh aren't I so boring, its the same old same old - I should put ditto as the last blog - hopefully Santa will be kind to me this year and bring me some other crafting items to use ........ I have been a good girl ......... he he!!!)

Colour Create Challenge.

Blue, Silver and White - a cool combination for this weeks challenge. Look here at all the gorgeous cards and for details of the challenge.

This was such a hard card to do. Umm I hear you say, doesn't look too complicated. Well it wasn't the card making, it was getting my ribbon colours and glitters off of my 2 year old daughter who decided that she wanted to craft in the living room! ahhhhgh.

When all bribary had been negotiated, I quickly stuck this card together!

Items used -
  • Card & Mirri board - the usual Papermill stock.
  • Cuttlebug embossing folder.
  • Stamp - Unknown.
  • Ribbon, Snowflake from stash.
  • Colous - Promarkers.
  • Glitter - Stickles.

Hugs,

Simon Says Stamp Challenge.

See I told you I was in my brown mood, here is another one...
This weeks challenge is to create a Thank you card or Thanks giving card. Click here for details.

Thank you cards have gone out of fashion for quite a lot of people, so this is a great challenge to revive them.
I've actually done a card with a vellum wrap. I haven't done one of these for ages.

Items used:-
  • Card - Papermill,
  • Flowers - large daisy punch, xcut flower and mini flower (punched vellum and odd papers,
  • Leaves - ummm, this is actually a snowflake!
  • Tags - Cuttlebug die.
  • Thanks - Cricut (don't know which cartridge sorry)

Thanks for looking,

Sarah x

Magnolia-licious

This month's challenge is a sketch by Kerry Donovan-Casey one of the Magnolia-licious DT designers. Click here for details and inspiration.

I'm in my seasonal brown mood at the moment so I have done a male card. Edwin has been coloured with promarkers and the dabbed giving the jumper a more wooly look (I think you can just about tell from the picture!) I haven't put a sentiment on as I kept changing my mind on what to put so left it blank!

Items used:-

  • Stamp - Magnolia Edwin coloured with promarkers.
  • Paper - EK Success music sheet which has been cosmic shimmered in copper.
  • Scrap paper from my box.
  • the swirls have been created by using Versamark with cosmic shimmer powders in blue, orange and yellow.
  • Sizzix - frame
  • Holly punch and gem berries and glitter around the frame.

Hope you have all had a relaxing weekend.

Hugs,

Just for fun

Just thought that I'd show you this card made just for fun. My friend Liz sent me the image, I coloured it using my promarkers and used sizzlits swirls and nesties. The main thing was the hand made flowers. Since seeing other bloggers do their own flowers, I thought why not keep going and see how I do. There are three varieties - see picture below. Don't think I've done too bad (blowing my own trumpet!)

Anyway that's it for now, Mum's just come around to continue the tradition of making the Christmas Cakes (all 6 of them) - everyone helps by cutting, pouring, weighing and most importantly of each one having a mix to bring them luck.

Have a great weekend

Hugs,
